July 15
Another rainy night, and still coming down good this morning. Janice left early to go to work, and we hung out at the trailer with Graham and then headed to his place for showers and he cooked us breakfast.
Then it was off to Darrell & Deb’s for our first meet and greet with 8-week-old Finnigan (what a cutie) and to reacquaint with Sadie. And what a good girl Jessy was – no growling or teeth baring.

The weather cleared, and everyone (us, Graham & Janice, Darrell & Deb, all the dogs and the folks at Birch Meadows), gathered for a BBQ dinner on the lodge deck, and a most enjoyable evening.
Left to right - Janice, Sonia, friend from Sweden (don't remember his name),
Graham, Deb, Darrell, Robin, Marcel & Jessie.
The most amazing thing was that Jessy got along with all the dogs. They have three house dogs here (a burnese mountain dog, a German shepherd and a border collie) and after lots of sniffing, some low level growls and a bit of teeth baring, they sorted everything out and ignored each other. She really has mellowed. They also have a team of sled dogs (quite a mix of breeds), but those dogs are kept in a large enclosure.
Unfortunately we are pulling up stakes in the morning to head back to Vancouver, as we have learned that Bob (Robin's stepdad) is in hospital and very sick with what appears to be advanced and aggressive lung cancer. Biopsy is tomorrow, but his breathing has become very difficult. We feel the need to be close by and to get more details.
