Saturday, Apr 6 - Some pretty heavy wind gusts early this morning that came over the mountain, sounded like a train coming through and set the motorhome rocking, but by the time we hit the road all was calm. Fairly clear when we started our drive, but eventually drove into rain. Today's travels took us to Oregon and the Mt Hood Village RV Resort to spend a couple of days visiting with our Mesa snowbird friends, Phil and Paula. It was pouring rain, but the welcome was warm and they fed us a wonderful salmon dinner (their catch). Rain continued heavy throughout the night.
Sunday we all decided to pile into the truck and head towards the mountain, hoping the ski hill might be above the clouds and rain. First we tried a hiking trail that would give us a view of Trillium Lake, but it was closed and snowed in. So back from whence we came and up the mountain we went, to Mt Hood Lodge (the filming location for The Shining). Well, we definitely were out of the rain, but into the snow - wet, slushy west coast snow. Checked the place out, wading through slush in my unsocked feet in light Skechers.

After our visit up the mountain, we stopped at a lovely little restaurant called The Rendevous for a yummy lunch. Back to camp and we all took some time for an afternoon rest, then Paula insisted on feeding us dinner again, this time with lobster. How could we be rude and refuse? Another fabulous seafood meal and great company, then time to hit the sack.
Monday, April 8 we drove as far as Seven Feathers in Marysville, WA. We could have driven all the way home, but then we would be trying to unload at the end of the day, after hours of driving. Decided to just spend the evening in the RV, rather than leave more money at another casino.
Tuesday, April 9 the easiest border crossing yet. Border guy - Any purchases to declare? Robin - About $XX. Border guy - Any tobacco or alcohol? Robin - A couple of part bottles, half a bottle of wine and a few beer. Border guy - Have a great day. Home by noon, everything unloaded into the house and motorhome back in storage by 2pm. Granted, it will probably take us several days to get the piles in the house sorted and put away.
Another good snowbird season. Definitely not the weather we anticipated, but the warm friendships made up for the cooler temperatures. Missing everyone we shared time with in Mesa and hope to see you all again next year.
Thank you for following along with us. Until our next travel adventure, dear readers.
