Forgot to include in yesterday's post about our little adventure when we left the campground. Nancy Nagivator (GPS) sent us on the roadway we always took in and out of the State Park. This time it told us to take 9th Ave. OK - different destination, so slight change to the routes we have been following. After turning onto 9th Ave we saw signs noting Road Work Ahead and Flagger Ahead. No big deal, until we headed around another corner and there are barricades and Road Closed signs. No indication of a detour route, and we can't just cop a Uey when we're a total of 54'. So we turn into a new subdivision and start looking for a loop around and out of the place. But there isn't a cul de sac, or crescent to be seen. Finally turn down a street where we can see a T intersection, make the turn left and then Robin VERY SLOWLY backs straight down the road until we have cleared the intersection enough to turn back out. Generally, you're not supposed to back up when you are flat towing a vehicle. No harm done, and eventually we were on our way.
So back to today. Overcast today. As we had planned, we headed into Burlington to shop at Camping World and Costco. Unfortunately, when we came out of Camping World, we noticed that someone had backed into our car, hitting the back bumper with a trailer hitch and putting a bit of a hole in it. Not sure if it happened in that parking lot, particularly since the parking spaces were a long way from the building, with nothing in between, but neither of us had noticed the marks and hole earlier. But wherever it happened, they backed straight into the car, as the evidence was dead centre on the bumper, which makes me think it didn't happen at Camping World. And if we had backed into someone hard enough to cause the damage, we would have known. But, what is done is done and nothing we can do about it.
After we finished at Camping World, we decided to head into Old Downtown Mt. Vernon, to a great little watering hole we had discovered the last time we were here - Draft Pics. When we were down this way about 4 months ago, we stopped in here for the first time, and had the most amazing stroganoff soup. Not on the menu today, but had fabulous burgers and waffle fries, and watched the Oregon Ducks start their trouncing of Tennessee. There were at least 6 TV's on the side of the pub we were on, each one tuned to a different college ball game (and 4 or 5 on the other side). The game we were interested in was at the far end, with no seats available, so we sat at the bar with a bit of a view of the desired game. The server noticed what we were trying to watch and changed a closer TV to the same game, just for us. How sweet! She got an extra tip.
After lunch we headed back to Costco. Oh right, it's Saturday. Is there a shuttle to get us from our parking spot to the store? Stocked up on some cheese for us and the Summer's, along with a couple of other items. At the checkout, the woman behind us said "you must be Canadians, buying that much cheese". She was Canadian as well, and had the same cheeses in her cart. Once done there, a stop at T-Mobile to try and get some problems with my phone resolved, then back to the RV park for dinner and an evening in. The sun had popped out for a while around dinner time, but the fog has now rolled in.
So unless something dramatic happens tomorrow, this is the end of this journey and this particular blog. Until our next adventure, dear followers.
