Where we're laying our heads tonight.
Today we awoke to glorious sunshine, and the promise of nothing but sunshine. We decided we would check out some of the interesting little shops we had seen along Highway 101, through Lincoln City.
We started out heading south a short distance to the District of Taft, to visit the hardware store and look for a couple of things we needed. After the hardware store, we took a stroll down to the beach. Just as we arrived we heard a bunch of motorcycles and horns honking. It's Gay Pride weekend in Lincoln City, and there were a number of supporters driving through the parking lot spreading the word. Lots of pelicans in the bay, but I discovered the memory card was missing from the camera - still sitting in the computer from the night before - and we didn't have the camera bag with the extra cards.
After the beach stroll, we headed back north (popped into the RV park to pick up the memory card) and stopped in at a Christmas Store, At least they weren't playing Christmas music - probably for their own sanity. Then into a gift store where I found a large, decorative plate that I felt I just had to have. Further down the road to the far end of town to stop in at JoAnn's Fabrics, to see if I could find cording to fix one of the curtains (success, I think). Then we stopped for lunch; a bread bowl of clam chowder soup. YUMM!! Decided on another visit to the beach at the south end of town, this time with the camera. The wind had picked up, and it was fun watching the gulls and terns fighting to make headway into the wind, and then turning around and screaming by us like they'd been fired out of a cannon. A couple of hardy souls in the water, and a few kites dancing in the sky.

When we'd had enough of the wind, we headed back south to the main touristy shopping area of Hwy 101 in Lincoln City. Always lots of antique/nostalgia stores in these US cities. I guess since I'm not in the market for antiques or any particular nostalgia stuff, it all starts looking like the same stuff, and most of that stuff looks like junk. Not unlike the shops in Chinatown (anywhere there is one) or the tourist markets in Mexico. But we're on our feet and moving, so that's a positive. Unfortunately, I messed up my knee somehow a few weeks ago, and the last couples of days have been worse than ever. Pharmaceuticals make it a bit easier, but in the middle of the night my body expresses it's displeasure.
When we were finished there, we hit a grocery store for something for dinner, and headed back to camp. Read for a while, enjoying beverages in the sun. Had a late-ish dinner, then headed off to the laundry room to wash the towels from flood night (had tossed them outside in a canvas bag when we got here, and forgot about them). Too late to start on my blog, thus the one day delay.
Until tomorrow, dear followers.
