Sunday, Sept 15 – Quite a change in weather. It rained pretty much all night last night. When Robin got up this morning the people beside us in their tent were scrambling trying to pack up. They were long gone by the time I arose from my bed. Stopped at the check in area to hook up the car, and Robin ended up trying to help a fellow who had arrived the day before with his hybrid car in tow. The car was still sitting in the parking lot because it wouldn't start when they unhooked it. Robin offered the use of our little jumper unit, but the battery must have been completely drained, because aside from a little click, nothing happened. Nothing else we could do but wish him good luck. Made our way south, with a couple of stops at scenic lookouts (pics below) and arrived in Lincoln City shortly after noon. The RV sites are a bit narrow, so precise parking is required (which led to a tiny chip on the car and a bit of Mountain Mist colour on the motorhome – knew I should have moved it). But the park is clean and well situated and when the spirit moves us, there is a shuttle to the nearby casino (although it is pretty easy walking distance, allowing for a couple of small hills). I was excited about the prospect of good wifi (according to their website), but it must only exist if your site happens to be right next to the office or the tower or somewhere else magical. It sure doesn't exist in any usable format at our site. Maybe later tonight, when everyone else has gone to bed? Who am I kidding, I'll probably be well into the Land of Nod myself by then. We did make a drive into town to the outlet mall, but I only checked out a couple of stores and Robin tried but his sciatic was just giving him too much pain, so he returned to the car and patiently waited. Will look at the forecast in the morning and decide where we'll venture off to for tomorrow's sightseeing. I don't recall anything on the trip south from Astoria that is calling us back, so will drive south again.
