Wednesday, Sept 18 – Another rainy night. Even a bit of thunder just as we were heading to bed, but no repeat of Monday's overnight storm. By 10am the sun was shining and it turned out to be another beautiful day. We hung around the site for the morning, then headed out for the afternoon. Short stop at a beach at the south end of Lincoln City to watch some incredible waves (can't find a name for the beach, just that it is a public access spot at 35th Street SW).
Here's links to some videos of Depoe Bay (the spot right in the heart of the highway through town is actually called Depoe Bay Scenic Park) and the unnamed beach in Lincoln City. And one of that seagull from yesterday hoping to snag a snack. Click on the highlighted words. Hope I've got them linked up right.
Then we were off down the coast highway to check out Beachcrest Brewing. We had stopped here Monday but they were closed. Lovely visit there overlooking a stream and golf course, then back toward Lincoln City and another tasting room (Black Squid). They don't brew their own, but had about 12 different beers on tap from various brewers, along with a couple of ciders and wines. I was driving, so just had a small taste of cider at each stop, but Robin did a thorough tasting of a variety of brews. By the end of the second stop he was getting the munchies and declared he wanted pizza for supper. Well, that ruled out whatever we might scrape together at the motorhome, so pizza it was. Found a great little take-out chain (Figaro's) just down the street from the RV park. While picking up the pizza I noticed they also sold ice cream, so despite the price decided to treat us to some Rocky Road for dessert. A bit of TV after dinner and then off to bed.
Thursday, Sept 19 – We've decided to head home. No point in touring if Robin can't comfortably walk around and take in the sites, so may as well get him home so he can see the doctor and try and get mobile again. At least driving doesn't bother him much. Ken & Faye have been kind of following our path, one week behind, and were relocating to Long Beach this morning, so we agreed to meet up for lunch and a brief visit in Astoria. We've driven as far as the Glen Ayr Motel & RV Resort in Hoodsport, WA on the ocean fed Hood Canal on the Olympic Peninsula. Actually quite a nice little spot, although tonight it is raining again, but it is the Wet Coast. Tomorrow we'll be home. And tonight I have decent wifi and can hopefully get this thing caught up. Robin's gone off to see if the hot tub will help his ailing body. We never even thought to pack bathing suits, but he has a pair of shorts he can pass off as trunks. Hope it helps ease his discomfort. He's back and no, it did not help - hot tub was nothing more than a lukewarm bath. It's raining again, so we won't be wandering out anywhere tonight. Leftover pizza and leftover ice cream. Dream night in.
