Happy Saturday, dear readers. For some this is the weekend, but for us retired folk, it's just another day. The main thing that distinguishes the weekends for us is that the stores are much busier.
It's been a relatively quiet week. Robin started the week by visiting a chiropractic/RMT clinic in the hopes of getting rid of his leg pain. It's really put a bit of a damper on what we can do (which is why we haven't golfed yet). The chiropractor feels he may have a pinched nerve, so doesn't want to make any adjustments without xrays. He has a requisition for an xray, but will wait and see what relief the massages may offer. He has now had two massage treatments and the jury is still out. He did feel better after the first one (bit of a lighter touch massage), and yesterday he had a deep tissue massage that, in itself, hurt a few times. So far, he's not feeling the soreness the therapist predicted, but we'll just have to give it time. He feels not bad in the morning, but by later in the day, he can be in a lot of discomfort. Oddly enough the pain is less when he's walking - it's the standing still that really hurts.
Wednesday we went in search of thrift shops, just to see what we could find. Also on a mission for our dear friend, Joan. She and Ron are coming down next month and her kids and grandkids will be visiting while they are here, so she was looking for a highchair for the little ones. Found her a great little Ikea chair for $10, in good, clean condition, although we did clean it up a bit more and sanitize it. Sent her a picture and her daughter says they saw those same chairs a lot in restaurants in Europe when they were there last year. She'll donate it back to the thrift store when they leave.
Also scored a pull cart for my golf bag for $10, which I will donate back to the thrift shop when we leave. Robin found an awesome three-wheel cart for $25, which he will take home with him, as he needs a new cart. In the long run, a lot cheaper than renting a cart each time we golf.
After thrift-storing in Palm Springs we went in search of lunch. Found some great reviews for a place called the Sandwich Stop, on the main tourist street in Palm Springs. As we were looking for it, we walked past a place called Hair of the Dog English Pub. Robin walked in and asked to see the menu. She said "The drink menu?" and he said "No, the food menu." She said they didn't have a kitchen, but if we went out the back door there was a great sandwich shop there, get your sandwich and bring it back here and have a beer while you eat. Turned out it was the exact sandwich shop we were looking for, and probably never would have found, as it wasn't right out on the main street. Great little pub, with two very friendly ladies running the bar. Made me think of Cheers - they seemed to have a regular clientele, as they seemed to know just about everyone who came in.
Been enjoying happy hour every evening with our neighbours, Richard and Pauline, and now have another couple from Mission joining us, Brian & Tina, who pulled in a couple of days ago.
Robin and I went to a dance at the club house on Thursday evening, but only had a couple of dances. The musician was very good, and even if we couldn't dance, enjoyed listening to him. The dance only goes for a couple of hours, so were back "home" by 9:30.
Weather continues to be fabulous. A bit of wind today, off and on so far, but it was 15c when we got up this morning. Odd, because last night it was really cold when we went to bed; in fact, I had to dig out my flannel jammies again.
Anyway, had a bit of time before I head off to the aquafit class, so figured I'd catch up and share some pictures from the past week. Really enjoying the class (Tues, Thur, Sat) and getting a good workout. I need the music to motivate me and make me work harder. It allows me to go on autopilot and not think about how many reps we've done and when will it end.
Spotted on the downtown streets of Palm Springs.

Some sunsets and some of our feathered friends.
Stay tuned, dear readers.
