WOOHOO! LAUNDRY DAY!! Robin ran some chores, and I hung out in the toasty warm laundry room. The day time temps are running low to mid-teens (Celsius), and it's been dropping down close to freezing at night. The wind is quite chilly. BUT, it's better than conditions at home, so we just bide our time, as it is forecast to only last about a week. Robin stubbornly insists on wearing his shorts every day, but he quickly changes back to long pants when the sun goes down.
For the past few days, my right foot has been giving me grief. It feels like something is pulling in my middle toe when I walk, and pain develops fairly quickly in the ball of my foot and makes it almost impossible to walk. No swelling or redness, and it doesn't hurt when I flex or curl my toes, and no pain to the touch - only when I walk. So, I went to a podiatrist today. A nice consultation, a diagnosis of a neuroma, a set of xrays (to confirm no cancerous growth before injecting steroids), a steroid injection combined with a numbing agent, some temporary orthotic inserts, and US$200 later (you can do the math for Canadian) and I could walk again. The doctor’s name is SANDALL!! How appropriate for a podiatrist. On his logo he has replaced the two "l"s with two feet in flip flops. Good sense of humour and seems like a nice guy. When he gave me the shot, other than a short OH! when it felt like the needle had shot out the end of my toe, he congratulated me on not crying or screaming. I told him I was a tough old broad, but that I hoped I had earned a sucker. That made him laugh. He said "Of course, we have some out front." I told him I’d rather have a jello shooter. That made him and his assistant laugh even more.
Quiet evening in. With the cold nights, everyone tends to hunker down in their units.

Not sure the treatment on my foot has worked. Still feeling a bit of pull in my toe and when we went out to do some shopping, after a bit of walking around the ball of my foot started to hurt quite badly again. I'll give it a few more days and then perhaps check back with the doctor. Popped over to the patio for the latter part of happy hour. Good band – several folks dancing (possibly trying to keep warm). Only ones we recognized were Mike & Lynn. Hung with them, sipping on a hot chocolate with Bailey's, until the band quit. Decided to log into Netflix and watch a movie tonight. Even though Christmas is over, I had read some decent reviews of the new movie Christmas Chronicles, with Kurt Russel. While I can't see it becoming a classic, it turned out to be an enjoyable movie.

Uneventful day. We headed out to do more shopping – looking to personalize some stuff in the rig, and Robin wanted to fill up the sand bags that we use to help anchor the gazebo. The site we are in now has lots of gravel, so the gazebo is anchored into the ground. But, when we move to our permanent site in a couple of days, it has more concrete, so we will need the bags. While my foot is still causing me some grief, it does seem a bit better. Hopefully it will continue to progress. My other options may be to rent a knee walker or get a kids' push scooter. Standing isn't a problem, so I could just put the sore foot on the scooter and off I go. Another chilly night hunkered indoors.
Until next time, dear readers.
