Brrr!! We may be getting into the mid to high 20's during the day, but this is desert area, and this morning it was 0 when we got up (I think yesterday it was -2). Needless to say, the furnace gets cranked on in the morning. Our little electric heater can only keep away so much chill. Reminds me of a great spring day in good old PG (without the residual snow).
Forgot to tell you about my little discovery when we were golfing yesterday. I had to head off the fairway to find my golf ball (surprise!), and right where I found it, I also found the skull (still with some patches of fur) of what we think was a dog. The snout was too wide to be a coyote, and the fur seemed to have a bit of a wave to it. Pretty dried out.
So, today we decided we would head up to one of the open pit copper mines and take one of their tours. On the way, we stopped in Green Valley to drop of my walking sandals for repairs. There was a Wednesday Market going on in the shopping plaza where the repair shop is located. Robin totally surprised me and said "why won't we just stay here and check out the market". He's already toured a number of various mines in the north, and wasn't all that excited about touring another one. OK by me.
I must say these markets are all starting to look the same. Very few unique items. I suppose if I was looking for jewelery, I would have had lots to choose from and no doubt would have found something unique. But how many different creams can you buy that will be the answer to your dry skin prayers, or how many pieces of pottery do you really need. We saw a roadrunner ironwood carving very much like the one we bought for $5 in Los Algadones, direct from the carver (we watched him carving in his shop). The seller today initially wanted $15 but said he'd let us have one for $12, and dropped his price to $10 when we walked away.
On the way back to the park, we took a couple of small detours and checked out some buildings in the area. One was this cool bar - spotted the horns through the trees from the highway off ramp.

Then on the other side of the highway, there was the Amado Territory Ranch, which included an Inn, some small shops, artists studios, The Universal Apostolic Church and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. And there was this neat metal sculpture.
Time to sit out and enjoy the sun and catch up on some reading for a couple of hours, before the setting sun and dropping temperatures forced us back inside.
Until next time dear followers remember, don't skinny dip with snapping turtles.
