Other than Robin’s morning walk with John & Donna, this was very much a day of relaxation. I had trouble sleeping last night, so was tired from the moment I got out of bed. I don’t think I even left the campsite. Lots of reading and resting. Robin did a temporary patch on the flooring under the kitchen slide, but when we get home, we really do have to look into getting it all replaced. Temperatures hit 30 today, and we were actually able to sit out for a while after sunset. Tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be about the same.

Happy Valentines. Nothing too exciting happened today. Another relaxation day. Entertainment night at the hall, but we didn’t stay long. They billed themselves as a jazz quartet (bass, drums, banjo, trombone), but it was very early “jazz” and we felt like we were back in the 20’s (Five Foot Two; Jeepers Creepers; etc.) – kept waiting for the flappers to show up. While they played and sang fairly well, their songs ran on too long. In every song, they would feature each of the players, not just for a bar or two, but for the entire song, then start all over with the next guy. So a simple 3 verse song turned into 12 verses. It was just too much and we left part way through.
Pulled out the propane fire pit and sat around visiting until bed time.

Robin and I headed into town to get some stuff for the RV and stock up on groceries. Hot, hot day today. Happy hour started a little earlier, as we all needed G&T’s (or, for me a V&T) to help cool us down. After dinner we headed over for the Valentine’s dance. Man, did we have fun. Band was so-so, but their song choices were great and after a bit of that free wine, who cares if they’re a bit off – the beat is there and everyone is dancing and we’re having a blast. The band actually played a bit beyond the 10pm curfew (oh my!), then we all headed over to Peter & Chris’s motorhome (on the opposite side of the park from us) for night caps and what turned out to be a night full of joke telling. We were joined by Robert and Margaret (fairly recently transplanted from Toronto to Nanaimo), who had shared our table at the dance with us. I was crying laughter tears just about the whole time we were there, and my sides were starting to hurt. We finally stumbled home at 1am.

Donna and I decided to head off to the shopping mall and see what kind of bargains we could find, while conveniently enjoying air conditioned comfort. We were gone for probably 6 hours, had some success, and were back in time for some happy hour in the sun. My body wasn’t very happy with me by the time we got back, what with the workout the night before, and now 5 hours of walking around in a mall. Was moving pretty slow, but at least still moving. Community dinner with McLaughlin’s (I had put some ribs in the slow cooker before we left), and then we all watched a couple of episodes of Mrs. Brown’s Boys and laughed until our eyes leaked. Clean up from dinner, a bit of quiet time and then off to bed.

Until next time dear followers, middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of the waist change places.
