Last belly dancing class on Monday. Will really miss the fun and the ladies. Robin went off for another massage and, when he got back I went to get a pedicure, but most of the salons nearby were closed. Will have to try another day, but in the meantime consoled myself with a bit of retail therapy. Another fun happy hour(s) with Richard and Pauline, and joined by Carol (next door to R&P) and her daughter Kristy. With the time change, we can sit out that much later, so we didn't eat dinner until 8.
Tuesday I passed on aquafit, as a cold seems to be trying to grab a hold of me again. So just relaxed for the day, including a pedicure in the afternoon. Blue blazer day today - around 4pm it was 35c in the MH and 33c outside. Our last night at cribbage. We both finished in the middle of the pack, so no prize money again. But happy to contribute our 50 cents each to someone else's happiness. Our friends, Doug and Ricci, arrived tonight to their vacation spot about 3 miles down the road from us. Will catch up with them tomorrow.
Wednesday was a relaxing day. Doug and Ricci popped by early, as they arrived too late to shop last night, so hit us up for a piece of toast to tide them over until they hit the grocery store. Hung around the site relaxing, then Doug and Ricci joined us later in the afternoon for happy hour and we took them to Casa Blanca for dinner. Back to our place for a nightcap, sitting out and enjoying what felt like a lovely summer evening. Richard & Pauline (and Kaslo) returned just in time to join us.
Thursday we met up with a new Gilbertson crew (the kids have all gone home and now Ron's sister and brother-in-law and Joan's sister are here) to visit the Thousand Palms Oasis in the Coachella Valley Preserve. A one mile hike from the visitor centre brought us to the oasis. It was easy to imagine what a welcome sight this thing would have been to early travelers. It exists because it sits on the San Andreas fault, thus allowing underground waters to rise to the surface. It is also home to the threatened Coachella Valley fringe-toed lizard.

After the hike we returned to the RV to relax for a while, then got ourselves tidied up and headed back to Gilbertson's for happy hour with the crew and Doug and Ricci, then we all headed into Palm Springs to take in the Thursday Night Street Market one last time (or first time for the newcomers). And congrats to Ken on his big win at the casino. Weren't sure we were going to get you away from the machine and out of there, but common sense prevailed. Fun evening with fun folks, and beautiful balmy temperatures. It was still 28c when we were heading home around 9pm.
Today, Friday, we started getting ready to hit the road again. Robin reorganized all the outside compartments and I tackled the inside - re-anchoring and corralling things that have been "free ranging" for the past two months. It was another blue blazer day, so the air conditioner got a good workout. I ventured down to the games room in the afternoon for a final round of canasta with a great group I've gotten to know over the past weeks. Then we were off to Doug & Ricci's rental unit for dinner and cards. Always enjoy spending time with those two.
Time is running out. Three more sleeps and we'll be on the road again, making our way home.
Stay tuned, dear readers.
