Last two days in Desert Hot Springs. Saturday I was saying goodbye to the ladies in the aquafit class. Had a real good workout and lots of fun. Doug and Ricci joined us for dinner and a lovely evening sitting out enjoying the cooler evening temperatures.
Sunday we hit the links again, here at the resort - this time with Doug. Even though we started just after 8:30, by 9:30 the heat was taking a toll on all of us. I had a terrible game, but great company and good exercise. Afternoon spent by the pool while doing the laundry, then we decided we wanted to finally get to a Red Lobster for dinner. Called the Gilbertson's and the Dalton's, and we had a most enjoyable farewell dinner with good friends.

Gilbertson's are on their way home tomorrow as well, but Dalton's are here for another 8 days.
Temperatures the last few days have reached the high 80's and we've had to break down and turn on the air conditioner in the motorhome if we have to be inside doing anything. If having to yell over the constant roar of the AC doesn't get you agitated inside, the (to us) oppressive heat outside wears you down. It makes home start to look a bit more enticing. On the positive side of the warmth, the oleander hedges that are between each site are now starting to bloom, as well as the cacti and other flora planted in folks gardens around their park models.

These potted saguaro are just across the street from us. The smaller ones are only about 12" high (so probably about 15 years old). Someone has been nurturing these a very long time. The withered blooms were full flowers the night before - their flowers only last 24 hours. These are native to Sonora (Mexico), southeast corner of California and southwest Arizona.
So my next report will be from somewhere further north in California. We have really enjoyed staying put for two months, and will probably do the same thing next year for a longer time, maybe in a different park and/or area. Just can't decide right now.
Stay tuned, dear readers.
