Today we began our gradual journey home. Feels a bit odd to be moving in the motorhome once more. As we climbed some 4000' out of the Coachella Valley, we found ourselves once again in Joshua Tree territory. But they looked different from two months ago - vibrant green from the new growth and some sporting white blossom clusters on the tips of their branches. I couldn't get any pictures as we sped down the highway, so have borrowed this one from the internet. These trees, to me, look like a cross between a palm tree and a cactus.
Traveled some new roads again, and some repeats, but I don't think I could ever get tired of the lush green colours of the Tehachapi Pass (about 40 miles southeast of Bakersfield). I think I could spend all day driving back and forth through those hills.
For the next couple of nights we are back at Orange Grove RV Park, among the blossoming and oh-so-fragrant orange trees. There is a tree right outside the driver side window and there was an orange hiding in the branches just waiting to be picked. Robin reached in, scooped it out and within 30 seconds we had it sliced and were eating it over the kitchen sink to catch the dripping juices. OMG!! I don't know how I can return to eating grocery store oranges after this. And when we went for a walk tonight, we picked up half a dozen freshly fallen ones.
Stay tuned, dear readers.
