So we've been without decent internet for a couple of days, but back on track now. Missing the warmth. Need an extra blanket on the bed again, and hope we don't have to resort to pulling out the duvet.
Thursday took us as far as the Seven Feathers RV Park in southern Oregon (as in Seven Feathers Casino). A lovely park which we have driven by before, but perhaps not in the future. When we got set up and were sitting outside, all of a sudden we heard rifle shots off to the west. They continued and were frequent, and we figured it must be a gun club nearby (which was later confirmed). Fortunately, they didn't carry on too long, and the club was in fact on the other side of the mountain to the north of us, but the echoes carried down the valley. Sometimes it sounded like they were in the field just on the other side of the fence.
While sitting out enjoying a beverage and the sun, a unit pulled in beside us with BC plates. When the fellow got out we introduced ourselves, as is the norm with us RVers, and inquired where in BC they were from. "Victoria." Then we asked where they had been. "Desert Hot Springs." "Really?! Which park?" "Sands RV & Golf." "No way! How long?" "Two months." Crazy. They were in the other corner of the park from us, but we had never crossed paths (at least not to carry on a conversation and get acquainted). Had a lovely time chatting and exchanging tales and information about each others' travels.
Off to the casino for dinner and came away $5 richer, not including the cost of dinner.
Friday we drove as far as Salem, Oregon and plan to stay here for three nights. Want to take our time shopping around for a couple of things we need to replace in the motorhome, plus maybe a new point-and-shoot camera (our old one has died). No sales tax in Oregon, so if the price is better than at home (after 30% exchange), better to buy it here.
Poured rain Friday night, but the forecast is for sun on Saturday. However, rain is scheduled to return on Sunday. Welcome back to the northwest coast.
Stay tuned, dear readers.
