A couple of nights after we moved the electrical appliances out from beneath the gazebo, I awoke to the light patter of rain on the roof. It popped into my head that those plugged in appliances were no longer under shelter. I put some thought to it, grabbed a couple of garbage bags and some rare earth magnets, and covered the appliances using the magnets to hold the bags in place. It was no longer raining when I got outside, but who knows when it might start up again. Robin slept through and didn't even realize I had been up shuffling about and opening and closing the door. The next day, Robin removed the bags and the magnets and set them on the kitchen counter (which was pretty much bare). He does some other things and goes back and the magnets aren't there, and are NOWHERE to be found. We each took turns checking in drawers that held anything metallic that might have been on the counter, but he had just finished putting away the washed up dishes shortly before putting the magnets there, so he's positive the counter was free of anything that might attract. I checked his pants pockets; we checked under the slides. No magnets.
Monday, March 26th, MYSTERY SOLVED. Robin pulled the toaster out of the upper cupboard, happened to turn it in just the right direction, and there they were, stuck to the underside. They were quite small magnets and the base of the toaster is recessed, so there was just enough room to hide them and not have them interfere with the toaster sitting steady on the shelf. Now if I could just find the one that went missing in the bedroom (I use them to hold the blinds against the window frames, to keep the early morning light out). Robin paid another visit to the massage therapist, and seems to be on the mend quite nicely. Finished off the day in my favourite way - LINE DANCING!! About half way back to our rig we stopped and chatted with a lady and her dog. When we got back to our site, we noticed there was a rig parked behind us again, and lo and behold the same lady and her were just walking into the site. Visited again for a while (her husband joined us) and got to know Flash a bit better before heading in for the night.
Tuesday I headed out for a pedicure and then we headed over to Dale & Sharon's mid-afternoon for root beer floats, and cake & ice cream, in honour of the March birthdays - Jim, Colleen, Mike & Sharon. Great visiting with everyone - many leaving within the next two or three days. Sat out reading for a while after we got back, then tucked inside for the night.
Wednesday, March 28th we were scheduled to meet up with friends from BC at the Botanical Gardens. We were almost there when we got a message that they would not be able to join us - their elderly dog had suddenly become incapacitated and they had to get him to the vet. So we turned around and headed back to the resort, in time to join our main posse for the second half of happy hour. We all ended up heading out for dinner at Outback, in honour of Colleen's and Sharon's birthdays. We said our goodbyes to Phil & Paula, as they are leaving tomorrow. Hope to join up with them in southern Washington on our way home. A nightcap on Mike & Lynn's patio before turning in for the night.
Thursday was taken up with laundry and starting to get reorganized for departure. Line dancing again tonight (just Lynn & I tonight - miss you Paula). I'm off to Calgary in the morning for my Aunt's celebration of life, so had to say goodbye to some of our friends who will be leaving over the weekend. Not fun. I'm back late Sunday and we will be on our way ourselves on Tuesday. Where has the time gone?
Until next time dear readers.
